Meditation brings so many benefits to your body, mind & soul. People who meditate as little as 5-10 minutes a day experience reduced stress, less anxiety, improved self-image, a more positive outlook, enhanced self-awareness, a greater attention span, stable consistent sleep patterns and better sleep in general as well as decreased blood pressure.

You can transform your life both today and in the future by starting to meditate. And it doesn’t just benefit you. Those closest to you will benefit from spending time with a more positive, happy and kinder you.

The chances are you have always been a positive & happy person inside, but unexpected changes and bumps in the road can derail you. This is where meditation can really help to put you back on track.

Not only will it put you back on track, but it will also take you down a whole new road to a newer person full of even more life to give that has so far been hidden away. It allows you to hear the inner voice within you that quietly wants to guide you down your destined path. Meditation can give you courage to make big changes, go in new direction and move you toward that “one thing” you have always wanted to do, but kept pushing it away. It helps you find your voice!

If you’re hesitant about meditating, there are many different ways to do it and they’ll be at least a few ways you’re most comfortable with.

Loving-kindness meditation involves opening your mind to receiving loving-kindness. You’ll be sending messages of loving kindness out to the world, in particular loved ones and others you’re close to.

Progressive relaxation involves identifying areas of tension on your body and creating a release of that tension.

Mindfulness meditation requires awareness in the present, and not dwelling on the past or indeed dreading the future.

Breath awareness focuses on breathing slowly and deeply and maintaining this – restricting any other thoughts.

There is also guided meditation that I personally found extremely useful when I was struggling to quiet my mind and didn’t know what direction to move. It allows you to listen to someone guiding you through a process. I use YouTube videos frequently for meditation and found quite a few that really helped me get to the place I am today. I even put a booklet together with the ones that made the biggest difference for me. It’s part of my Inspiration in a Box package to Find Your Voice.

Holosnyc is another type of meditation that uses brainwave entrainment to clear you. I started with the 5 Day Challenge and noticed changes quickly.

If you’re unsure of which method to use – try each one and see which you connect with the most. Whichever technique you decide to use, there are some common practices you must to do.

You need to be in a quiet and safe environment – away from the risk of distractions or interruption. There should be no chance of contact from the outside world, so turn off your phone and lock yourself away. Take a seat somewhere comfortable and in a posture that is most comfortable for you. Set yourself a specific amount of time to meditate and stick to it. Start to focus on you and only you, and if your mind starts to wander, just recognize it and let it pass. It will take time to cultivate it, but the more you work at it the more control over the “monkey” mind you will have and peace and quietness will arise.
